ISSUES: I WILL BE FAIR AND IMPARTIAL
A Fair Trial for All
I will ensure that everyone that comes before the District Court will be on equal footing. I will advise all parties whether or not I have a personal relationship with anyone involved in the case, and will recuse from hearing it if any of the parties reasonably objects. I do have the ability to set aside any and all facts known to me and listen only to the evidence presented to me in civil and criminal cases.
In fact, as a prosecutor, my obligation is not to "win" any case, but to insure that justice is served. Sometimes, that includes making sure that law enforcement also follows the law. I will maintain that ethical obligation as a district Judge. Whether a Plaintiff or Defendant in a civil suit, or the State/City or Defendant in a criminal case, all parties have a constitutionally protected right to a fair trial.
